The Dream Censor
Sera Vale decides which dreams Vestra is allowed to remember.
Sera Vale decides which dreams Vestra is allowed to remember. Most are harmless. Some are investigated. Others are buried before they can frighten a city that has learned to fear its own sleep. Then Sera is ordered to find Cael Arden, an illegal courier who collects the dreams her Ministry rejects. He should be an easy enemy. Instead, he puts months of forbidden transcripts in front of her, all describing the same thing: black water rising beneath Vestra. Reports from every district. Reports that have vanished from the official records. Cael distrusts everything Sera represents, and she has every reason to arrest him. Working together is reckless. Wanting him is worse. But the deeper Sera searches, the harder it becomes to believe the missing dreams are an administrative mistake. Then she finds a deleted file from her own childhood. Her mother dreamed of the black water too, shortly before the state took her away. Sera has spent her career deciding which warnings are too dangerous to share. Now she has to discover why someone was so desperate to silence this one.
