Elena Ruiz comes to the Pyrenees with a simple plan: survive one booked summer at the adventure lodge she inherited, sell it, and return to her hospital career. Then she finds three expensive climbing accidents in the insurance records that nobody at the lodge remembers and not a single first-aid note, medication entry, or accident report to prove they ever happened. Nico Vidal, the lodge's lead guide, has no intention of watching the place quietly fall into a resort company's hands. He and Elena disagree about almost everything: risk, loyalty, and whether caution is wisdom or fear. Unfortunately, he is also steady under pressure, impossible to dismiss, and becoming harder for her to keep at a professional distance. When a real mountain emergency leaves behind exactly the trail the old "accidents" should have created, suspicion turns into something more dangerous. So does the attraction between them. Elena came to sell a lodge. Now she needs to know who is trying to ruin it and why the man most determined to protect it is becoming the hardest part of leaving.
