Borrowed Summers
Chloe Bennett comes to Naxos for one summer and one favour: keep her aunt's wedding venue running until the season ends.
Chloe Bennett comes to Naxos for one summer and one favour: keep her aunt's wedding venue running until the season ends. The photographs promise white stone, candlelit terraces and blue sea. Behind them are unpaid suppliers, an unsafe terrace and no room for mistakes. Then there's Andreas Vale, the architect who refuses to approve anything unsafe. He thinks Asteria House has spent years asking the island to pay for someone else's beautiful fantasy. Chloe thinks he's infuriatingly certain of himself. Unfortunately, he's also competent, observant, and difficult to keep at professional distance. Wedding after wedding pulls them together while Chloe discovers how much her aunt has hidden to keep the venue alive. The debts reach further into her family than she imagined, and everything now depends on the season's biggest booking: a wedding weeks away that could bring in enough money to keep Asteria House afloat. There's only one problem. The structural work may not be finished in time. As the wedding date closes in, Chloe must decide whether to deliver the flawless celebration everyone has been promised, or stop it before the venue's illusion becomes something far more dangerous.
